Pancake Breakfasts

Weekends in March are all about maple syrup in Northeast Ohio – and especially Geauga County – when the sap starts flowing in the spring. There are many pancake breakfast events in Geauga County during maple syrup season, especially in Burton. Almost all of them serve real maple syrup. Many schools, churches and associations hold pancake breakfasts as fundraisers, and they are very popular, many with long lines. I have been attending pancake breakfasts for many years, even before the pandemic. As a child our local Kiwanis club would host pancake breakfasts (and still do), but I was first introduced to the Geauga County pancake breakfasts when I lived in Solon. It has been a passion project ever since. Here are my recaps of the pancake breakfasts I have attended over the years.

  • Berkshire Boosters at Berkshire High School…8am – 1pm. AYCE pancakes and Omelets!
  • Burton Volunteer Fire Department…9am – 1pm. The first and oldest pancake breakfast (50 years in 2023) AYCE buttermilk, blueberry and buckwheat pancakes, sausage and $1 for scrambled eggs and extra sausage or milkorange juice. They use real dishes and flatware.
